PSN Down Right Now on PS4 & PS3, Sony Confirms (Update)

Sony says the PSN is back online.

Update 2 (10:30am PT):

Along with gaming and social applications still not working, Sony has said the PlayStation Store on PS4 isn’t working properly either:

You may have some difficulty accessing features and products on the PlayStation Store. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.

Update (9:55am PT):

Sony has confirmed that the PSN is down right now on PS4 and PS3, saying:

You may have some difficulty launching games, applications, or online features. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.

Ask PlayStation added, “We’re aware that some users are having trouble accessing PSN. Thanks for your patience as we investigate.”

According to numerous reports on Reddit and Twitter, the PlayStation Network is down right now on PlayStation 4, with people saying it’s error code CE-34861-2. When attempting to play Overwatch, we get this message: “failed to authenticate PlayStation servers.”

Over on the official PlayStation Network Status Page, Sony says the PSN is still up and running.

A minor PSN outage happened yesterday for a few minutes, but this one appears to be more widespread.

As Sony announced yesterday, the PSN will be undergoing one hour of maintenance on July 18.
