In addition to the digital version on October 13 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR, you’ll also be able to buy Rez Infinite physically through iam8bit. Pre-orders for the $40 USD limited physical version go live today, August 19 at 9am PT/12pm ET, and the retailer stresses that “this exclusive physical edition is only available through iam8bit.com, and won’t be sold in stores.”
As the physical version FAQ adds, it’s a region-free game, a digital download copy won’t be included, you don’t need PSVR to play Rez Infinite, you can select cheaper shipping options if you don’t want the game quickly, you’re better off placing two separate orders for the game and any pre-order items to ensure there’s no delays, and iam8bit can’t guarantee you’ll get Rez Infinite on October 13, “simply because there are so many variables to physical game production when doing smaller, specialty, collectible releases like this.” Currently, the ship date is listed as October 2016.
Enhance Games CEO Tetsuya Mizuguchi said they’re doing a physical version of Rez Infinite because he wants one for myself, and trying to find a copy of the original Rez is extremely difficult. “This physical disc costs a little more than the digital version will, of course, but we hope fans and collectors will agree it’s worth it,” he added.
iam8bit is also offering shirts (one’s designed by Phil Fish), pins, and a $75 Vinyl Soundtrack 2xLP + Retrospective Book + 7” Bonus Vinyl. Here’s what you get for your $75:
- 180-gram vinyl
- Remastered Soundtrack 2xLP
- Bonus 7-inch Vinyl for Area X
- 48-page Retrospective Book
- Featuring rare & candid conversations with the original development team!
- Book Written by Nick Hurwitch
- Album & Book Design by Cory Schmitz
- Includes Digital Soundtrack
- Digital download links will be emailed to the address you used to place your order on game launch day; Oct 13, 2016.
As a reminder, pre-orders for the iam8bit content begin today at 9am PT/12pm ET.
