Announcing the Xbox One release of Firewatch on September 21, developer Campo Santo revealed that the game is set to receive a free audio tour and a free-roam mode across all platforms. The studio has yet to detail the audio tour but here’s the gist of it:
One part scavenger hunt, one part museum tour, one part game dev workshop, mixed with a dash of inside Campo Santo goofs. We think you will like it very much.
It’s basically a commentary mode in which the game’s protagonist goes on a hunt for new tapes that contain the developer’s recollections, anecdotes and more. We’ll update our readers when we have more details and a release date.
As for the free-roam mode, it starts rolling out with Firewatch‘s Xbox One release and will enable players to “live in the Shoshone with a full day/night cycle and explore with a few hidden secrets.”
