Yakuza 6 Gameplay

Watch 17 Minutes of Yakuza 6 Gameplay From TGS 2016

Sega’s Yakuza series has been quite successful on PlayStation 4, and it looks like it won’t be slowing down anytime soon. The third game in the series to hit PS4 is Yakuza 6, which looks to continue the story of Kazuma Kiryu. The former gangster, orphanage operator and taxi driver (is there a career he hasn’t done?) has been looking to leave his life of crime behind him, but his past continues to catch up with him. It makes sense, seeing how there wouldn’t be much of a game without some sort of conflict going on.

During an event at Tokyo Game Show 2016, Sega showed off 17 minutes of Yakuza 6 gameplay. The video shows off the open-world game’s combat as Kiryu battles thugs inside of a convenience store. The combat looks more fluid than past entries, and Kazuma can seamlessly enter buildings while in a combat situation. That’s only one of the several changes that the video shows off, so check it out above. The footage should do a good job of whetting the appetite of fans looking forward to the PS4-exclusive, as its Japanese release date of December 8 quickly approaches.

While Yakuza 6 is releasing later this year in Japan, that won’t be the case in North America. Instead, American fans can look forward to the series’ prequel Yakuza 0. Gamers will be able to visit Japan in the 80s when the game releases January 24 on PlayStation 4. Just like Yakuza 5, it’ll be a digital-only release.

Let me know in the comments below if you’re looking forward to Yakuza 6, and if anyone is thinking about importing it instead of waiting for it to be localized.
