Battlefield 1‘s release is nigh upon us, and there’s been plenty of discourse back and forth across the board about which multiplayer modes and maps will ship with the game’s launch. In a rather self explanatory tweet, the official Battlefield twitter account posted links to all of the maps and modes that will ship with the game, along with one word: “Boom.”
Boom, indeed.
Six multiplayer modes will ship at launch, and the game’s website suggests that there will be others releasing down the line, possibly with the Season Pass.
Nine maps will release, with others coming, again, most likely with the Season Pass.
There is one map that will release for free for everyone this December, Giant’s Shadow.
Prepare to take part in the Battle of the Selle in the cold autumn of 1918. Here, the fighting moves out of the trenches and into open country where a massive crashed airship casts its shadow onto the battlefield. The British forces have broken through the Hindenburg line and are now in pursuit towards an important railway center. Fierce infantry and tank engagements ensue on the open ground and river banks alongside the Cateu-Wassigny railway where an armored train can still turn the tide. Giant’s Shadow will be coming to Battlefield 1 as part of a free update in December.
Battlefield 1 will release on October 21, 2016.

Battlefield 1 Modes
-
Conquest
64 players will battle for control of key objectives. A classic of the Battlefield franchise.
-
Domination
A more focused version of Conquest where the fighting revolves around strategic objectives. Domination also features a "fast-paced infantry focused combat in close quarter locations."
-
Operations
Operations offer epic journeys across several maps based upon real battles of World War I. We wanted to offer a large and epic experience with a focus on teamplay and frontline combat. Adding this meta-layer to the game mode, and stretching it across multiple interesting locations that both look and play very differently, adds a whole new layer of scale and variety to the battles in Battlefield 1. Your team can win on one map, proceed to the next map, and actually see the map you previously fought over on the horizon.
-
Rush
Attacking forces must find and destroy the Defending team's Telegraph posts, which the Defending team will use to call in artillery strikes. Defenders can disarm the explosives, but if a post is destroyed, they'll have to retreat to another sector. Attackers win if all posts are destroyed across all sectors. Defenders win if they kill all of the Attackers' reinforcements or still have at least one post standing when time runs out.
-
War Pigeons
Opposing sides will use messenger pigeons to call in artillery strikes against the other team. At the start of the match, players will have to find the pigeon coop and move it to a secure location. The match is over once one team successfully sends out a pigeon.
-
Team Deathmatch
The rules are simple: kill as many people on the opposing team as possible.
