The first scheduled PlayStation Network maintenance of 2017 will happen on Tuesday, January 31 from 6:30pm PT to 7:30pm PT, Sony has announced. Only affecting PlayStation 4, Sony will be using the time for “routine maintenance and improvements.”
If you already have an account, you’ll be able to sign in to your profile, play games, and use most applications during the PSN maintenance. However, you won’t be able to access Account Management, PlayStation Video, or the PlayStation Store.
As always, Sony recommends activating your PS4 as the primary console by going to [Settings] > [PlayStation Network/Account Management] > [Activate as Your Primary PS4] > [Activate].
Sony adds, “We strive to ensure that PlayStation Network services are available at all times, but occasionally we must take PlayStation Network offline to perform essential maintenance and implement feature enhancements. We are working hard to reduce the duration of each maintenance.”
Although it wasn’t mentioned by Sony in the announcement, it’s possible the PSN maintenance next week is being done to help prep for the PS4 Update 4.50 beta, which begins in early February.
