PSLS Help Desk – How to Fix the GAEMS Case Flashing Screen

I treated myself to a GAEMS Vanguard for a birthday a few years back. This portable gaming case for consoles has been used more times than I can count. For those who aren’t familiar with this wonderful device, it’s a portable case that you can carry your consoles in. It also has an HD monitor embedded inside, so you can literally game anywhere as long as there is an outlet. It works fabulously with all my consoles, but for some reason, there’s an issue it has only with the PlayStation 4.

Occasionally, when turning on the GAEMS case and the PS4 system, the screen will scramble and flash white, red, or even green. If this happens, the only way I found to fix it was to turn everything off, turn on the GAEMS case first, and then the PS4. I went to GAEMS support about it, and their suggestion was that the HDMI cable was bad. If that wasn’t it, ship the case to them for repairs. Fairly certain most people would like to avoid that.

Lo and behold, there is a way to fix the problem without turning everything off. The issue is not with the HDMI cable at all, but with the power brick the GAEMS case power cable uses. You won’t need any technical know how to fix it, so don’t fear you’ll need to tap into your inner electrician to solve the issue. Essentially, you need to reset the power brick, and everything will be kosher and happy.

  1. Just in case, check your HDMI cable. Replace it (while the PS4 and GAEMS case are still turned on) with another and see if that fixes the problem. If not, it’s a power brick dilemma.
  2. Leave the PS4 turned on. This won’t hurt it, and you’ll see results instantly.
  3. Unplug the GAEMS case directly from the outlet.
  4. Wait about 5-10 seconds, and then plug it back in.
  5. Turn on the GAEMS case.

Vóila! It’s so simple, it’s rather ridiculous! If the flashing screen happens again, just do this again. Since I did this miraculous treatment, I have not had the flashing screen issue at all.
