Korean Horror Game White Day Gets August Release Date

UK publisher PQube has announced that Korean horror title White Day: A Labyrinth Named School will be haunting PlayStation 4 consoles in North America and Europe later this year. North American gamers will be able to get frightened when the game launches on August 1. European players will have to wait a few extra days, as it doesn’t release until August 4 in that territory. Thankfully, that’s not too bad of a wait considering how lengthy some European delays tend to be.

Here’s how PQube describes the upcoming PlayStation 4 title:

When a romantic gesture takes a wrong turn, you find yourself trapped inside a school at night. Survive encounters with horrifying ghosts, evade a murdering janitor and race against the clock to solve puzzles and save your fellow students.

With tense survival horror gameplay and bone-chilling scares, White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is widely considered one of the scariest games ever made. This survival horror classic is being completely remade for current gen hardware with expanded gameplay features and new storylines to please and terrify both grizzled veterans and new scaredy-cats alike.

As referenced in the press release, this is not the first release of White Day. The Korean game was originally developed by Sonnori in 2001, where it released exclusively on PC. Now over 15 years later, Korean studio Roi Games (which was founded by former Sonnori CEO Lee Won Sool) is remaking the game, and bringing it to a worldwide audience.

It’s definitely cool to see a game finally reach a wider market, and PlayStation 4 owners will see if White Day lives up to the hype when it releases this August.
