It looks like the hype for Overwatch’s Doomfist is back as user crash reports from the PTR (Public Test Realm) were marked with “1.13.0.0 Doomfist / Summer Games.” The title has since been changed in an update but it gives fans hope that Doomfist may be the next character coming out for Overwatch.
Blizzard usually releases characters three to four months apart and Overwatch’s latest hero, Orisa, was released back in March so we might be due for a new character soon although Blizzard is known to take their time with everything and releasing them when “they’re done” so no assurances there.
The now gone title also teased the upcoming Summer Games event, which happened in August of last year, hinting at the possibility that the event may come a bit earlier this year and begin at the same time as the release of the next character, which is hopefully Doomfist.
This could all also be deliberately done by Blizzard to rile up and troll fans once again as they’ve done in the past so we’ll just have to wait and see what the company has in store for the next couple of months.
