That guy up there? That’s Rod Stone, aka Hollywood, and Hollywood wants what’s best for you, especially if it makes him look good. As he’s the face of Mayhem, you being a successful agent in this global offensive against Legion is critical to his image. With that in mind, we’ve got a few Agents of Mayhem tips before you get started to make sure you get the most from Volition’s latest.
Before we jump into the gameplay critical ones below, of course we’re going to tell you that you ought to deck out your agents and your guns in the best looking skins you can find. Looking fabulous is one of the key elements of defeating evil, and if you preordered the game, you’ve got some great cosplay skins to make sure your agents are looking their best and up to date (mostly) with a variety of subtle and not so subtle pop culture references. In short? Kick some ass and make sure you look good doing it.
Without further ado, let’s jump right into the training program and give you some Agents of Mayhem tips that will help you be the best agents you can be.
With your training now complete, are you ready to take the fight to Legion’s doorstep? If you’re itching for more Agents of Mayhem, you can read my review, where I note that “There’s a lot to love in Agents of Mayhem, which makes the pitfalls harder to swallow. An imaginative story and cast of characters is burdened by an uninspired and soulless open-world. Exciting character combat gets pushed out of the limelight by notable slowdown and other bugs that inhibit gameplay.”
If you’ve got any additional Agents of Mayhem tips for players just getting started, make sure to share them in the comments below.

Agents of Mayhem Tips to Get You Started
Before you start taking on the forces of Legion, here are some things you should know as you head into Seoul.
-
Unlock all of the Characters
Save for the initial three characters, Daisy, and Scheherazade, which are all unlocked in the progression of the campaign, you can choose to unlock the other seven characters at any time by selecting and completing their missions. There will be an initial mission that you complete with three characters of your choice, and then a character intro mission which will require you to play as and learn that specific character.
I recommend unlocking all of them as soon as possible so that you can find the characters you like the most and level them up. Having these favorites at a high level helps with leveling up characters you may not like to use as much, as each member of your party gets experience whether you actively use them or not.
-
Complete Character Specific Missions
Each character has a specific mission that dives a little deeper into their backstory. The exclusive rewards for these missions amount to a weapon skin, but it's a nice way to get a bit of bonus experience and some time playing as each character.
Completing all of these missions will also unlock four different "team" missions, where three specific characters team up and earn their coordinated team character skins, so for the sake of customization and experience with a variety of character selections, it's worth completing all of these missions as soon as you can so that you'll be better prepared in the fight against Legion, and look good doing it.
-
Level Up Braddock's Squad XP Boost Ability
Each character has an ability that gives a bonus to your entire squad. Braddock's is one you should focus on first, as fully leveling it up will give a 10% experience bonus to your entire squad as long as she is with you.
Failing to do this early on is like leaving free experience on the table.
-
Level Up Character Squad Upgrades
While Braddock's is the one you should focus on first, it's worth looking at what other useful squad abilities the agents have. Make sure to check these out and level them up if it's a bonus you think could help your team, especially on your favorite characters.
-
Check Your Contracts
Contracts are a way to earn bonus cash, experience, and other loot in Agents of Mayhem. Checking your contracts might dictate a certain style of play (ie. melee kill so many enemies) or require you to play as a specific character (ie. kill helltroopers as Hollywood), and will even give some other bizarre requirements that will help shape how you play.
More of these are given as you complete missions in the global offensive, and it's worth paying attention to what you have to complete as you play through the campaign.
-
Revisit the Ark
In addition to swapping out agents, you'll want to revisit the Ark to assign agents to the global offensive, research legion tech for your agents, buy universal upgrades for the Ark that help everyone in Mayhem, and take on some virtual mission in the Danger Room-like training simulator. It's easy to get caught up going mission to mission, but don't forget to come back to homebase to refuel and make sure you're ready for the next fight.

Use Gremlin Tech in Conjunction with Character Abilities
Early on I found Gremlin Tech to be little more than a novelty, but by the end of the game and when taking on higher difficulties, it was practically a necessity for defeating the hordes and some tough bosses.
Get to know your Gremlin Tech and how it can be best utilized with the characters you use. There are some pretty cool combos that can devastate the battlefield and are well worth paying attention to. Don't write off the Ark's local tinkerer as just making some passive toys. These toys can turn the tide of battle.
