After spending two years in Early Access, Ark: Survival Evolved finally had its official launch this week for PC and consoles. To celebrate, developers Studio Wildcard have teamed up with effects studio Pixomondo (who have worked previously on things like Game of Thrones and Furious 7) to produce a live-action series on the game.
The trailer for it is below:
Not much of the series is shown, but from what we see, it seems true to the game. A man washes up on shore and is greeted by a woman riding what looks like a raptor before being quickly devoured. According to the description in the video, fans can stay tuned for more cinematic episodes coming soon.
With Ark now fully released, fans have turned their attention to requesting cross-play between platforms. While there has been no word on that yet, a week ago Jeremy Stieglitz (the co-founder of Wildcard) said that cross-play was running internally, but Sony would not allow it.
“Look, it’s a thing that everybody asks for and everybody wants to do, and we can’t really say anything other than what it is. It’s easy for us to do technically and it’s just policy issues, and until that gets worked out we’re not different than any other game, even the big games that want to do it. It’s not really something we can solve on our own.
“If all those Ark players want to be satisfied and play together, these cross-network play policy things really need to get sorted out – and then we’ll do it. We’re really excited about it.”
Ark: Survival Evolved is now fully out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
