“Video games got so weird,” is what Tyler Treese said after a conversation about the series of crazy video game crossovers we’ve seen in the last couple of weeks. Announced today, Sonic Forces is getting a bunch of outfits from other Sega and Atlus properties, like Jet Set Radio, NIGHTS, and Super Monkey Ball. There’s even a Joker outfit and mask from Persona 5 that your hedgehog can don. As bizarre as these inclusions may seem, they at least make sense, given that all of the properties fall within the same publisher family.
Final Fantasy XV, on the other hand, has stepped outside the boundaries of the known video game universe. Partnering with Ubisoft, Square Enix is bringing Assassin’s Creed into the world of Final Fantasy XV, not only with outfits, but an entire Assassin’s Festival event. Not since Final Fantasy met Mickey, Donald, and Goofy to make a little game called Kingdom Hearts has there been a crossover of these proportions.
With the barriers of seemingly impossible collaborations being broken down repeatedly, we looked to other upcoming and recently released games to see what kinds of video game crossovers we would love to see, and justify how the two worlds meeting makes sense (even if that justification is just “video games”). Here are the video game crossovers we most want to see.
What kinds of crazy video game crossovers can you come up with? Whether it’s a full new crossover game like Kingdom Hearts, or just some weird and unexpected DLC for an existing game, we’re sure you can fill the comments with suggestions of your own. I mean, Final Fantasy XV even announced a noodle helmet today, so we’re pretty sure absolutely nothing is sacred anymore.

Video Game Crossovers We'd Love to See
Like mixing Final Fantasy XV and Assassin's Creed, These are the bizarre and exceptionally unlikely video game crossovers that we'd love to see.

Destiny 2 Meets No Man's Sky
Imagine a world in which the vast and near infinite universe for No Man's Sky was home to the kind of shared world combat that we find in Bungie's shooter. Setting out across the universe to take on the darkness, Guardians are on the offensive now. Even with as many people as play Destiny, it's unlikely you'll ever meet in this vastness. Bungie's trying to bring players together in Destiny 2, not dilute them among the stars, so it's not likely we'll see this one happening.

The Sims Gets Disgaea Characters
The Sims is the perfect place to combine real life with fantasy and fiction. As many people that try to create their own family and friends as characters, there are also many who create fictional characters as close as they can. Imagine if instead of realism, the Sims got a character pack full of bizarre, off-the-wall DLC characters like those from Disgaea. It's a weird one, and perhaps just as likely to happen as it is just not possible.

Friday the 13th's Jason in Middle-earth: Shadow of War
There's one more ugly face to take down in Mordor. Jason joins the ranks of the orcs and can either become your worst enemy or your greatest ally, depending on how you utilize the Nemesis system. Watch for more classic horror villains like Freddy and Predator to join the orcs in the future.

Rock Of Ages Does Video Games
Rock of Ages is about a giant boulder wrecking historical places and people. The second game adds in famous artists. For Rock of Ages 3, we'd love to see a boulder barreling through popular video games. Even better, make the crossover the other way and have the boulder be a downloadable character for other games.

South Park and... Well, Everything
The first South Park game parodied fantasy, and the second one is set to parody the ever popular superhero craze. Next we'd love to see a South Park game that blatantly targets other video games, looking to exclusives and massive triple-A experiences for inspiration. Can you imagine a South Park parody of Uncharted or Call of Duty?

Call of Duty Expansion for Elder Scrolls Online
In The Elder Scrolls Online: Heed the Call, a mysterious portal opens up to a land known as Earth, where the protectors of the realm need help against a threatening force called Nazis. It's magic and swords next to bayonets and bullets in a battle for the survival of humanity.

Mortal Kombat Vs. Street Fighter
Crossovers between fighting games aren't all that rare, but we'd love to see what happens when the violent tendencies of the Mortal Kombat crew come into contact with the Street Fighter gang. I'd love to see a Mortal Kombat crossover where they didn't have to tone down the violent nature just for the other property, not to mention wondering what Ryu's fatalities would look like!

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Gets Batman DLC
Ever wondered what the Uncharted world would be like if there were superheroes? We'd love to see how Batman would handle the same kinds of trials that Chloe and Nadine endured, but we're betting that fancy tool belt of his basically makes the game easy mode. "WHERE IS THE TREASURE!!?!? WHERE IS IT!?!?"

Unravel's Yarny Joins Star Wars Battlefront II's Heroes
Yarny endured such losses in his own game, clinging only to memories. He's lonely, sad, and he's getting angry. You know what Yoda says about anger, hate, suffering, and the dark side. Yarny's joining the Empire in Star Wars Battlefront II with some of the most fierce and dark powers you've ever seen.

Crash Bandicoot's Dark Souls
Why not join two of the most notoriously difficult and controller busting games in history? We imagine there's a lot of platforming, and death requires you to return to the same spot to pick up all your lost souls before continuing. Yup, we're talking a mix of the punishing platforming in Crash Bandicoot and the insane combat of Dark Souls. It's a permadeath platformer to die for.
