Double Fine and iam8bit have announced that the 5th annual Day of the Devs, a festival where indie developers get together and show off their games, will be happening November 11 this year. Day of the Devs is free to anyone that wants to come to the festival, so it should be a great chance for indie developers to get some publicity and word of mouth for their games. The festival is also a family friendly event, with children of all ages allowed at Day of the Devs.
Here’s a bit more information on the event:
Fall is right around the corner, and with it a time-honored tradition for San Francisco’s indie game scene. Returning for the fifth consecutive year, Double Fine Productions and iam8bit’s Day of the Devs will bring five times the fun and festivities on November 11th, 2017 to The Midway in San Francisco. Attendees of the free festival, which unites the gaming and development communities, will join together to celebrate this year’s biggest indie hits and discover new titles, with great music, tons of awesome treats and activities to boot!
Developers that want to have their games featured in the festival line-up are encouraged to submit their projects for consideration here. Submissions close October 1, and the full game line-up will be announced later that month.
“Day of the Devs 2016 was beyond epic,” said Double Fine President and CEO Tim Schafer, “We had tons of awesome indie games featured – several of which went on to win awards and even qualify for an Oscar! But that was only our fourth annual event. For the fifth year, we’re going alllllllll out! We thought long and hard about how we could make Day of the Devs 2017 a festival for the ages, and we’ve come up with some surprises you’re not going to want to miss. Day of the Devs 2017 is going to be bigger and better than ever before. Be there, or forever live in regret.”
