Wargaming announced today that a brand new War Stories campaign is now available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of World of Tanks. The story, titled Kennedy’s War, centers around an alternate version of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
According to the publisher, the campaign puts players on the frontline of an alternate timeline in history, one where The United States and the Soviet Union are still on the brink of war, but President John F. Kennedy gives the command to lead an attack against the Soviets off the coast of Florida.
Kennedy’s War is now the fourth War Story to be released in World of Tanks, following the Brothers in Armor, Flashpoint Berlin, and Operation Sealion stories. Together, they give the console players of World of Tanks a better single player and co-op experience, as well as letting them play through some well written storylines. Fidel Castro’s revolution in Cuba has placed a Communist state at America’s doorstep, and the failure of the Bay of Pigs Invasion by pro-US insurgents has given Nikita Khrushchev the opening he needs to establish a base for nuclear missiles and bombers off the southeast coast of the United States. President John F. Kennedy, not wanting to appear weak after the Bay of Pigs failure and under pressure to resist “dominos” in Southeast Asia, takes a hard line against Khrushchev and opposes the Cuban nuclear build-up with military force. The US uses its Guantanamo base to send an armed contingent to destroy the missile bases, but the Soviets counter-attack.
A cold war turns hot in this face-off between the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the United States of America. Take command of the US forces as they play a deadly game of nuclear brinkmanship.
World of Tanks is available now.
