Sunset Overdrive is an Xbox One exclusive that has its own unique style. However, fans have been wondering about a sequel for the open-world title–and since the original game was funded by Microsoft, many imagined the company would do the game again in order to get Microsoft’s console an exclusive. According to Insomniac’s tweet, though, this may not be the case.
Here is Insomniac’s tweet, which was in response to another user:
we'd love to, we just need to find a publisher!

If the tweet is to believed, it seems Microsoft isn’t interested in publishing a sequel to Sunset Overdrive. Maybe another company can snap up the IP! If that’s the case, Sunset Overdrive 2 might be able to make it to other consoles–including PlayStation 4!
That said, it would be a shame if we didn’t get the original Sunset Overdrive didn’t make it to PlayStation 4, but it could easily be another Titanfall 2 situation, wherein the original wasn’t too important to enjoying the sequel. Regardless, this is all just speculation, so we’ll have to wait and see if someone takes up Insomniac’s need for a publisher!
