A new Street League team has even revealed for Need for Speed Payback today, and they seem to be born out of the age of the Internet. For those unaware, Need for Speed Payback will feature Street Leagues – found within Fortune City – that players can interact with for unique races and events.
The newest team, Shift Lock, hold their base of operations in Downtown Silver Rock and are described as “politically active”. The team uses their drift events as a form of political protest under their leader, the mysterious Underground Soldier. About Shift Lock
Shift Lock was borne out of an online community of conspiracy theorists and Internet trolls who started racing as a throwback to the bootleggers of yore. Most of its members are politically active, and carry out drift events as a form of political protest, using them as agitprop or performance art.About the Boss
Nobody knows the real identity of their leader known as the Underground Soldier, a young hacker who goes to great lengths to protect his privacy. He is the ringleader of Shift Lock, acting as their military commander in chief.

Some people may be hesitant that Need for Speed still contains a cinematic-driven campaign mode. Unlike the last time around, however, this campaign appears to be focused on nothing but high-octane thrills, akin to a Fast & Furious movie, or, indeed, the Need for Speed movie which released in 2014. It is a bit early to tell if the campaign will be a success, but for the time being our focus was on how the racing felt.
Need for Speed has always let you play out your high-speed racing fantasies. Ghost Games knows how to present a racing game in cinematic form. This is their third attempt at such an entry, and it appears that the cinematics are taking a bit more of a backseat to the action. Time will tell how successful Ghost Games will be at it this time around. The driving is solid, and now we wait for Need for Speed Payback’s November 10 release date.
