UK Sales Chart: Assassin’s Creed Origins Takes Down Gran Turismo As Top Selling Game of the Week

The UK sales chart for last week were made available today, and for the second straight week, another new title takes the top spot. This time, Assassin’s Creed Origins took over as the sales leader, with Super Mario Odyssey pulling in at second. This bumps perennial contender FIFA 18 down to the #3 slot, making it the furthest the game has fallen since it released.

Rounding out the top 5 is another newly released game, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (#4), while Gran Turismo Sport takes the fifth spot. Destiny 2 and South Park: The Fractured but Whole remained in the top 10 for another week, with Middle-earth: Shadow of War and WWE 2K18 (shockingly) sticking around as well.

Here’s the 20 best-selling games through retail stores in the UK for the week ending October 28, 2017, according to GfK Chart-Track:

Assassin’s Creed Origins blew my expectations away in so many areas, but there’s still something missing that made the likes of Assassin’s Creed II and Brotherhood so special. However, this is most definitely the best title since then, and one that I’ll be jumping back into very soon. The new combat system makes for some incredibly satisfying moments, while the design of the world is only matched by the likes of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Ubisoft Montreal can be proud knowing that they’ve delivered a level of AAA-production that likely won’t be seen again until Cyberpunk 2077 rolls around, but there’s just that last leap of faith that needs to be made to once again deliver a generation defining game.
