Recent Digital Foundry Analysis Reveals Which Version of Sonic Forces Performs Best

Sonic Forces is out now, and as is tradition with most newly released titles, Digital Foundry has taken a look under the hood to give us a comparison between the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions of the game.

The entire video is worth a watch, but if you want the quick breakdown of it, the general gist of it seems to be that the game eatures no PS4 Pro support, and doesn’t seem to run well on anything other than the standard PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One X. On the PlayStation 4, the game runs at 1080p/60fps, whereas on the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, the game gets just 720p/60fps and 720p/30fps, respectively. Those aren’t good numbers for modern consoles, but thankfully aren’t indicative of the systems in general.

For those not familiar with the upcoming game, here’s the description for Sonic Forces:

Fight through a world destroyed by Dr. Eggman and a powerful new villain in Sonic Forces, the new fast-paced action platformer from the team that brought you Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations. Sonic Forces lets you speed through rolling ruined landscapes as Modern Sonic, catapult past perilous platforms as Classic Sonic, and use powerful new gadgets as your own Custom Hero Character.

  • All Star Cast of Heroes and Villains – Battle an all star lineup of foes, including Dr. Eggman, Zavok, Metal Sonic, and Chaos, leading up to a fight against Sonic’s most powerful enemy yet, Infinite. Even Heroes need help, so you must team up to take back the world.
  • Create Your Own Custom Hero – Create your own unique hero with hundreds of different accessories to chose from and share your character to fans around the world!
  • Three Types of Gameplay – Speed through and fight hordes of robots as Modern Sonic, enjoy the fast paced side-scrolling action of Classic Sonic and run across iconic zones defeating enemies as your own custom hero.

Sonic Forces is available now.
