Nowso more than ever, video games are exploring diverse topics. These range from power fantasies to personal stories told through an interactive medium. Some of these games wind up being incredibly sad, and that potentially means days of sitting in bed while eating ice cream and crying nonstop. Well, at least if you’re anything like Tyler.
That’s why the question we posed in this week’s Now Loading was “Has a video game ever made you cry?”
Check out the gallery below to find out what the staff thought of this week’s question:

Has a game made you cry?

I have had games give me the feels here or there, but never one to make me actually spring a leak. -

What Remains of Edith Finch grows increasingly dark and sad. Exploring the tales of the deaths of an entire family across three generations is heart wrenching and overwhelming at times. It made me tear up numerous times, and the last third or so of the game flipped the waterworks on and wouldn't shut them off. It was a beautiful experience, and I was happy to open myself up to feeling everything that they wanted me to feel in it. -

I cry during games all the time, so the question is hard for me to answer because I don't quite remember the last time I did because it happens so often. The first "twist" of Doki Doki Literature Club made me cry a bit, but more out of shock than anything. A specific scene in Yakuza 0 in a forest made me tear up. I cried a few times during the course of NieR: Automata. Heck, even the ending of Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment made me tear up. The point is, it happens to me a lot. -

Overwatch, albeit indirectly. I watched the Mei animated short "Rise and Shine" and couldn't help but get misty eyes.

I don't think any video game has made me cry. The only game that got me close was Papo & Yo, particularly its ending sequence. Oh, also, when I was a kid, I would play The Oregon Trail and name my party's characters after my family members. I remember feeling terrible when one by one they each died or got very sick.

Okay, I wound up crying over multiple games just today. While not PlayStation-related, I played through Finding Paradise, and it's three of the best hours of gaming available. It tells a really great story, and ends on a really beautiful note about living with regret. I also ended up crying while watching all of the main NieR: Automata endings on YouTube (I was doing prep for a podcast you'll be able to hear soon!). Automata always makes me cry. -

I wouldn't say "cry" but the part about Ezio's family early on in Assassin's Creed II almost made me tear up. Still one of my favorite gaming moments, and one of the best games I've ever played.
