Though it isn’t Jurassic Park, ARK: Survival Evolved is the closest we’re going to get to a Jurassic Park adventure game. And Studio Wildcard announced that ARK: Extinction, the upcoming expansion for the dinosaur-themed, action-adventure romp, will launch this November. Along with the release date, Studio Wildcard provided gameplay details and an announcement trailer, which you can watch above.
In ARK: Extinction, you’re a veteran survivor who must travel to Earth to finish what you started. An Element-infested, ravaged planet filled with fantastical creatures both organic and technological, Earth holds both the secrets of the past and the keys to its salvation. In the months leading up to ARK: Extinction‘s release, there will be regular drops of Extinction-related notes within the world of ARK. Once you collect them, you’ll unlock new skins, as well as the appearance of powerful Tek-themed Dinosaur variants within the ARKs. And those people who already own the Explorer’s Pack or Season Pass will automatically receive ARK: Extinction for free, but it’s also available as a standalone expansion pack.
ARK: Survival Evolved released on August 29, 2017, to middling reviews. The game currently holds a Metacritic score 69, 69, and 70 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, respectively. In our review of the base game, ARK: Survival Evolved, we gave it a 7.5/10, saying, “Ark: Survival Evolved has a bunch of interesting ideas. But by attempting to be a jack-of-all-trades, it doesn’t really feel like it has mastered any particular element. ”
ARK: Extinction will release worldwide on November 6, 2018, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
