EA and DICE have updated the Star Wars Battlefront II roadmap originally laid out in June 2018, and the news seems promising. It gives a clearer look at how the rest of 2018 will shake out for the Star Wars shooter. Launch windows for upcoming heroes have been announced, and a brand-new mode was revealed.
The first hero to arrive will be cyborg separatist leader General Grievous. He will arrive in October 2018 and be followed in November 2018 by legendary Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. Finally, Winter 2018 will bring with it Sith Lord Count Dooku and fallen Jedi Anakin Skywalker. All of the new heroes will get additional appearance options.
Winter will also bring with it an all-new and currently untitled mode. It will offer “a non-linear Star Wars sandbox experience.” .A vague description was offered. EA stated that in it “two teams battle for capture points and to ultimately bring down capital ships.”
The Star Wars Battlefront II roadmap also detailed some gameplay changes players can expect in the coming months. In September 2018, people will be able to use the Squad System in a new way. You can spawn on your allies, to help you fight together. You’ll see this feature in Galactic Assault, Strike, and Blast modes when it launches. The Geonosis as a Galactic Assault map with three new vehicles will arrive in November 2018.
The rest of the year will also see new appearances for your troopers. They will follow the skins that were released as part of the August 29, 2018 update. DICE promises more information will be revealed as we get closer to update, as well.
You can get a look at the updated roadmap below, though DICE also says that these plans may change.
Star Wars Battlefront II is available now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
