RED Entertainment and Iggymob have already spoken in the past about a new Gungrave game, an entry in the series following the upcoming Gungrave VR. But during the PlayStation LineUp Tour 2018 stream in Japan, the project was officially unveiled. Showing off Trigun creator Yasuhiro Nightow’s new design for protagonist Grave, the trailer introduces Gungrave G.O.R.E. and slaps a release window of Winter 2019 on it.
Here is that Gungrave G.O.R.E. trailer.
The trailer is very cool, in that Gungrave sort of way, starting with a large cityscape and transitioning into a drawing of Grave’s new look. Grave’s image becomes a digitally-colored illustration, before finally revealing a CGI animated version. We’re treated to smash cuts of Grave’s enormous pistols and ridiculous(ly awesome) coffin weapon before the title and release window reveal. Obviously, it’s just a teaser ahead of Tokyo Game Show 2018, but seeing Gungrave in the flesh, so to speak, is pretty wild.
Gungrave VR is reportedly a prequel of sorts to Gungrave G.O.R.E. and will be seeing a North American release on the PlayStation 4 in Fall 2018, thanks to XSEED Games. Gungrave originally appeared on the PlayStation 2 in 2002, with a sequel in 2004 and an anime landing in-between in 2003. Gungrave: Overdose was briefly available as a PS2 Classic for the PlayStation 3, but has since been delisted.
