Maybe Keita Takahashi will get his wish for a Katamari Damacy remaster after all? Not long after a trademark for Katamari Damacy Reroll was discovered in Europe, the internet sleuths have done it again. This time, people found out that Bandai Namco trademarked Katamari Damacy Encore in Japan. What does this mean? We don’t know yet.
Trademark filings aren’t necessarily indicative of anything in themselves. Bandai Namco could simply want to call dibs on the titles, and the company gave no indication of what these supposed games may be. The names themselves point toward a remaster or remake of some sort, but who knows what the company has planned? It is notable that a North American trademark hasn’t been filed (or discovered) yet. Although, if Bandai Namco keeps up this pattern, we may see one pop up soon.
The timing is interesting, as the 2018 Tokyo Game Show starts on September 20, 2018. Maybe we will see Katamari Damacy reemergence? Katamari Damacy‘s last PlayStation appearance was Touch My Katamari, which appeared on the PlayStation Vita.
