Telltale Games’ impending closure left the studio with only twenty-five employees, creating a skeleton crew that was meant “to fulfill the company’s obligations to its board and partners,” as stated by Telltale Games. That number of employees just went down, as more people were fired.
Most people imagined that crew would stay on board for a few months, but as of October 4, 2018, Telltale Games laid off a few more of its employees. This was confirmed via a Tweet from a now ex-Narrative Designer at Telltale Games.
Heeeeyyyy remember how there was going to be a skeleton crew staying on for a while and I was part of it? Nah, jk, we all just got laid off, too.

It’s unclear how many people are left at Telltale but there are definitely a few remaining, as clarified in the same Twitter thread.
I think there was some misunderstanding about my earlier message… There are still good people at the company. MY team is done.

With yet another batch of layoffs, it’s clear that Telltale Games’ days are winding down quickly. Episode 2 of The Walking Dead: The Final Season has released, as promised, but The Final Season has officially been delisted.
Telltale Games said it has had multiple partners express interest in helping finish The Final Season, but the soon-to-be closed studio hasn’t updated the public on that development. Telltale Games’ inability to secure financing was what caused the studio’s impending closure in the first place, and considering they’re being sued for WARN labor law violations, getting involved with the studio might not be the best PR move.
While some ideas at Telltale Games may never come to fruition, Netflix still plans on producing a Stranger Things game.
