Learn More About Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales’ Cast of Characters

CD Projekt RED has been gracious in the amount of content its shown from Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales of late. Not long after hosting a livestream that debuted the isometric gameplay, the studio released another lengthy video. With the game’s PC release date fast-approaching, CD Projekt RED seems keen to share more details. This time, the information comes in the form of background details on two of Thronebreaker’s main characters, Queen Meve and Brouver Hoog.

On the official Gwent website, the studio recently added information about Queen Meve’s rise to power in Lyria and Rivia. Born into Lyrian royalty, Meve married Reginald the Might, Rivia’s King. After his death, both kingdoms were in need of a new ruler. No one believed her fit for to succeed Reginald in power. Despite having no formal military training, she proved herself in war, immediately inciting fear and also earning respect. However, as the character breakdown notes, some folks patiently await an opportunity to dethrone Queen Meve.

Brouver Hoog is the second character to receive an extensive breakdown in the recent post. A nearly 400 year old Dwarf, Brouver remains a stickler for tradition. As Mahakam’s Elder, his word is law. Thus, his refusal to keep with the times doesn’t always bode well for his peoples. Yet, despite his quirks, Brouver’s rule has ensured Mahakam’s survival for two centuries.

Since little is known about Queen Meve, based on her infrequent appearances in Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher saga, CD Projekt RED has taken creative liberties in fleshing out her story. The same likely holds true for Brouver Hoog, a character who also has fleeting appearances throughout the book series.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales hits PC on October 23, 2018. Consoles players can grab the title for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year on December 4, 2018.
