With the PC version a week out from release, and the console version arriving in a couple of months, CD Projekt RED has released the first official gameplay trailer for Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. The trailer depicts a full, yet succinct, picture as to how Gwent and storytelling are being combined into one robust experience.
Check out the first Thronebreaker gameplay trailer in the video below:
CD Projekt RED has previously shown off plenty of Thronebreaker’s gameplay, with a livestream and a 37-minute walkthrough. However, nothing beats having information concisely delivered in a quick, easy to consume format. Thus, within a two-minute time span, we see exactly what to expect from Gwent-centric battles. The trailer also teases the harsh realities of choice and consequence that The Witcher is so acclaimed for mastering. With regard to Thronebreaker, its seems decision-making will mostly affect soldier morale amongst Queen Meve’s ranks.
This forthcoming entry does not reflect a typical Witcher title. Yet, it has all the makings of a worthy new addition. Complex characters, thought-provoking choices, and a world where the tenets of good and evil so easily mix? Sounds on brand. What’s more, depending on Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales‘ success and reception, this may not be the last release of its kind.
Fans on PC can returns to the World of the Witcher in Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales on October 23, 2018. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users will get to face the mighty Nilfgaard later this year on December 4, 2018.
