Now Loading is a recurring PSLS feature where our writers weigh in on specific topics and questions. In this week’s Now Loading, the staff here at PlayStation LifeStyle tackle the launch lineup of the PlayStation 5. Current predictions put the launch of next generation consoles at no more than two years out, so as we approach the predicted timeframe, what would an ideal launch lineup for Sony’s next system look like? Launch lineups are usually notoriously bad compared to the later years of a consoles life, as developers explore the capabilities of the new tech, but we’re pretty hopeful that the PS5 launch lineup can be pretty amazing.
Instead of a tailor-made list, we wanted our selection of PS5 launch titles to be as varied as our staff. For this exercise, we simply asked each member of the PSLS staff to give us one game they would love to see released with the PS5 in the launch window (whenever that may be). We know that there is no way that all of these titles will be available at launch, nor do we even know for sure that all are in development, but here we go with our PS5 launch lineup.
It’s interesting to note that all of the suggested games are from currently known series and franchises. It’s impossible (or at least quite difficult) to predict what new IPs may make an appearance with the PlayStation 5, so we’re left guessing and hoping for additions to some of our favorites. Some notable gems left off this list include a new Uncharted, Jak 4 (pretty please?), and re-exploring the rest of Sony’s beloved “buddy platformers,” like Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank. I’m also surprised no one mentioned Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the next God of War game, or a number of third-party titles that we inevitably know will be coming sometime in 2020 or 2021.

PS5 Launch Lineup
-
New Killzone Game (Zarmena Kahn)
Zarmena's choice of a New Killzone seems like a no brainer. Though maybe we could also get a new entry in the Resistance series?
-
Bloodborne 2 (Joseph Yaden)
Of course we'd have someone select Bloodborne 2. We all thought Sekiro was going to be Bloodborne 2. Until it wasn't.
-
Destiny 3 (Chandler Wood)
You know me. I love me some Destiny, and I've got a perfectly good reasoning behind why I think there's a strong possibility we'll see Destiny 3 as a launch(ish) title next gen.
-
Dynasty Warriors 10 (Jenni Lada)
The long running franchise will have a new numbered entry eventually, so why not for the launch of the PS5?
-
Final Fantasy VII Remake (Lucas White)
Lucas is zeroing in on the fact that he doesn't think we'll actually get the FFVII Remake during this generation of console, and at this point, he's probably right.
-
Gran Turismo 7 (Michael Briers)
PlayStation's long running racing sim franchise will probably see a new entry as new hardware emerges, somehow looking even more real than the extremely real look it's had before.
-
Star Wars Battlefront 3 (Aidan Simonds)
EA's been a little bit messy with the Star Wars license, but Aidan is hoping we'll see the next iteration of the Battlefront franchise as we head into next gen.
-
Horizon: Zero Dawn 2 (Brianna Reeves)
Sony has always phased out older franchises and heroes in favor of new ones. Brianna's choice is Horizon Zero Dawn 2, a great world and character that needs to be explored more.
-
Knack 3 (Annette Polis)
Is Annette just trolling us, or does the greatest platformer of all time need to be one-upped again, bringing us even more particle effects?
-
Mass Effect 4: Shepard's Return (Keri Honea)
Speaking of EA, their handling of Mass Effect hasn't been much better than Star Wars. Andromeda was okay, but it failed to capture that spark that made the original trilogy amazing. Keri wants to see a return to the Shepard storyline for a much better Mass Effect.
-
New Ridge Racer (Louis Edwards)
On the other side of Gran Turismo, we have a more arcadey racer in Ridge Racer. Is a new entry on the way? Louis thinks so, or at least hopes so.
-
The Last of Us Part II (Janet Garcia)
Correction: We previously had this listed as The Last of Us Part III, but Janet was talking about a PS5 port of the PS4's end of life title, The Last of Us Part II. Similar to how The Last of Us was ported to PS4 after its release at the end of the PS3's life.
Original: We know that The Last of Us Part II is headed to the PS4, but what if Naughty Dog was hard at work bringing a follow up to the PS5's launch as well? Depending on launch timing, seeing Part III on PS5 could be a reality.
-
White Knight Chronicles Collection (Cameron Teague)
Why get new games when you can have the old? Cameron just wants to relive the glory days in glorious HD (or whatever they'll call it next gen) with a full White Knight Chronicles Collection. We have a feeling he's going to be busy for a while if this actually happens.

PS5 Launch Titles We Want to See
What does our ideal PS5 launch lineup look like? Here are the games our staff wants to see, or at least thinks are a strong possibility.
