You’ve heard of it, haven’t you? The legend of Sparda? Almost 20 years have passed since Capcom first unveiled Devil May Cry and its super-stylish combat to the world, and now, we’re ready for the next chapter–Devil May Cry 5 .
Set soon after the events of Devil May Cry 4 (and the disappointing DMC 2 , it seems), the fifth numbered installment in Capcom’s hack and slash series heralds the return of Dante and Nero, who must join forces with a brooding stranger known only as V in order to save Red Grave City from the point of collapse.
Demons are on the march, Urizen has been crowned king of the underworld, and Nero is without an arm. Yes, it seems his neon-blue Devil Bringer arm was stolen just when he needed it most. We have a sneaking suspicion who the culprit might be.
Nevertheless, in anticipation of launch day, we’ve scoured the four corners of the Internet (and the PSLS archives !) to present to you everything you could possibly need to know about DMC 5 . Now let’s see if we can really fill your dark soul with light.
Let’s rock, baby! Devil May Cry 5 will finally see the warm light of day on Friday, March 8, when Capcom’s long-anticipated sequel will become available on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Jackpot.
What's Devil May Cry 5?
A hack and slash adventure game by trade, Devil May Cry 5 is the direct sequel to Devil May Cry 4 and the sixth mainline installment in Capcom's cult series–with Ninja Theory's DmC being the outlier, of course.
It's also set after the events of DMC 2 , so that clears that up, then.
What's the Story?
The Order of the Sword has fallen, and in their place, a new threat rises from the underworld. It's threatening to turn Red Grave City into a molten ashtray.
Humanity's last hope rests on the shoulders of Nero, Dante and the mysterious V, who must set aside their differences and raise a little hell.
Via Capcom:
Several years after the Order of the Sword incident, an unusual phenomenon suddenly appears in Red Grave City. A gigantic tree pierces through the surface in the middle of town, attacking with roots that drain the poor citizens of their blood. Young Devil Hunter Nero races into Red Grave aboard the mobile Devil May Cry vehicle with his partner Nico, a self-styled "artisan of arms" who provides Nero with his new weapons. Nero seeks to recover many things in Red Grave: Lost pride...stolen power...and a man left behind.
How Does It Play?
Capcom's monstrous series is known and loved for its breakneck combat and exhilarating arsenal. You'll pleased to know that Devil May Cry 5 plans to honour that tradition... and then some .
Chain together stylish combos in battle to trigger a Stylish Rank on the right side of the screen, which rises as you continue your artistic onslaught. Shooting for higher Stylish Ranks has all sorts of benefits, even pumping up the battle music at higher ranks. Nothing beats the feeling of finishing off a battle at SSS Rank!
Old Friends, New Enemies
Nero, Dante, Lady, Trish and [SPOILERS]. It makes for quite the ensemble, though Devil May Cry 5 still brings some new faces to the table, including the arms dealer Nico and V, the latter of whom acts as the game's third playable character. Which brings us to...
Three Playable Characters
...V, Dante, and Nero. Together, they're humanity's last remaining hope against the forces of darkness, but they are also the three playable characters of Devil May Cry 5 .
Per Capcom:
Dante – The proprietor of Devil May Cry, and a Devil Hunter of legendary proportions. Dante is a half-human, half-demon hybrid.
Nero – Devil Hunter operating out of the mobile Devil May Cry. Having lost his demonic arm (the Devil Bringer) before the events of the game, he stands against the invading demonic forces with a new power provided by Nico.
V – Book and cane in hand, this slender man appears covered in impressive tattoos. Before chaos fell upon Red Grave City, he sought out Dante through the information broker Morrison and tasked him to subdue a certain demon. V lacks the power to fight himself, instead relying on three demon familiars to take the offensive in battle.
Combat That's Buttery Smooth
The DMC series is nothing if not stylish, and you'll be pleased to hear that each of the three characters come bearing a full arsenal of demon-killing armaments.
A 15-Hour Story
Based on internal tests, the core Devil May Cry 5 story lasts around 15 hours in total.
V's Familiars
Turns out the brooding V has familiars of his own, and you'll be able to see them in action right here .
Dante's Back
He's only the coolest sonuvabitch to walk between worlds, and in Devil May Cry 5 , Dante will once again find himself caught between heaven and hell—between life and death—as he rises up to defend Red Grave City.
A True Passion Project
As the first numbered DMC title in almost 11 years, Devil May Cry 5 is shaping up to be a special gaming experience—or so says Game Director Hideaki Itsuno, who seemingly poured his heart and soul into this one .
Soon we will complete Devil May Cry 5 , the first numbered title in the series in 11 years. I’m putting everything I have into it and am looking forward to everyone’s feedback. Unlike previous entries, the hurdles of sharing videos and the like have lowered, so I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone’s superplay videos on social media. After its release on March 8, and after checking the free update coming in April, I’m going to refresh and prepare for my next title. I hope to work hard so that my next title meets everyone’s expectations, and so that I can announce it as soon as possible.

The Cameo System
DMC goes multiplayer? Not exactly. The Cameo System allows players to hop into certain multiplayer scenarios seamlessly, as they are relevant to the story. It won't interfere with the game's single-player component, and if you choose to play offline, the cameo will be filled by developer ghost data.
Training Mode
Curious to learn the ropes? You'll be happy to know that DMC 5 features a training mode called The Void .
Microtransactions Detailed
Yes, Devil May Cry 5 features micro transactions, but it's not all doom and gloom!
As Game Director Hideaki Itsuno rightly pointed out, the ability to purchase Red Orbs using real-life cash is merely for those players who want to streamline the DMC 5 experience .
With giving people the ability to purchase Red Orbs, it’s something we want to give people as an option. If they want to save time and just want to get all the stuff at once, those people can do that. But on the other hand I don’t feel you have to get all the moves. You should be able to play it the way you want to play it.
An All-New Theme Song
Amid the allegations levelled against Eddie Hermida, Capcom chose to update its theme song for Devil May Cry 5 , meaning the vocals for "Subhuman" will now be sung by Michael Barr. The rest of Suicide Silence’s contributions will remain intact.

Rated 'M' For Mature
To the surprise of no one, Devil May Cry 5 has landed a Mature rating from the ESRB.
This is an action game in which players follow the story of three heroes (Dante, Nero, V) in their quest to save the world from demons. From a third-person perspective, players use swords, guns, and special attacks (e.g., a prosthetic hand with electric bursts) to kill hordes of demons in frenetic combat. Battles are highlighted by gunfire, screams of pain, and slow-motion finishing moves/highlights. One cutscene depicts civilians screaming in pain while being impaled by demon tentacles. Blood appears frequently during combat and stains several environments. Some female characters are depicted partially nude, with their breasts and buttocks minimally covered by blood, light, or clothing. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” appear in the dialogue.
