THQ Nordic Will Showcase Darksiders: Genesis and Other Games at Gamescom 2019

THQ Nordic is another big publisher on tap to appear at gamescom 2019 this August. With a little under a month to go before the show kicks off, the company has announced its lineup plans. Unsurprisingly, many of the publisher’s heavy hitters are set to make an appearance, such as Darksiders: Genesis and the recently confirmed Destroy All Humans remake. The publisher also plans to unveil four new games, though the public will only see one of them.

In addition to Darksiders: Genesis and Destroy All Humans, THQ Nordic intends to bring Biomutant, Desperados III, and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated along for the ride. All five of these games will be playable on the gamescom show floor. Interestingly, fans will have a chance to get their hands on an unannounced sixth title.

This isn’t even everything on THQ Nordic’s docket. There will be three new game reveals the publisher wants to keep close to its chest, as they will only be shown behind-closed-doors to press during the event. What they could possibly be is anyone’s guess, and THQ Nordic has proven how well it excels at unleashing the unexpected. Could anyone have anticipated SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated? It’s doubtful.

Hopefully, gamescom sees some of these titles receive official release dates. Darksiders: Genesis, a Diablo-inspired Darksiders spinoff title from Airship Syndicate, is set to launch sometime later in 2019, but lacks a solid date. Action-RPG Biomutant from developer Experiment 101 also has a late 2019 release window attached, though no official date has been unveiled just yet. Turn-based tactics title Desperados III is in the same boat. Destroy All Humans has only a nebulous 2020 launch window. Meanwhile, the SpongeBob remake lacks even a launch window.

Gamescom 2019, which will be held in Cologne, Germany, will run from August 20th to August 24th.
