Along with the huge multiplayer reveal today, Activision and Infinity Ward announced the Call of Duty Modern Warfare beta dates when players can get their own hands on the game. It looks like the exclusivity deal between Activision and Sony is still going strong, because PS4 players get first access to the beta, with additional platforms coming during the second weekend. Once additional platforms are added, Infinity Ward will be testing crossplay, which means that even if you play on PS4, you’ll get to play the beta with your friends on Xbox and PC.
The first PlayStation 4 exclusive beta will run from September 12-16. September 12-13 will be early access, presumably for those who preorder the game or are given early access codes for the beta. The 14-16 will be an open beta on PS4 that everyone can take part in.
The following weekend, the Call of Duty Modern Warfare beta will run from September 19-23. Weekend two will continue the PS4 open beta, while Xbox and PC will only have early access privileges on the 19-20. For the 21-23, the beta will be open for everyone to play on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and will feature full crossplay testing among the platforms.

Infinity Ward gave players a look at the changed multiplayer today, highlighting specifically map design that moves away from three lanes and weapon customization that makes each gun look and feel just how you want it to. We had the opportunity to go hands-on with the upcoming game’s multiplayer modes and found it to be far more strategic and tactical than the past few years’ games.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare is a highly ambitious undertaking from Infinity Ward that strips the series down to its foundations and rebuilds it, both aiming for feelings of nostalgia while also delivering something entirely new. It’s got a lot of groundbreaking new technology that is helping the series be more realistic and gritty than it ever has before.
