ghostbusters the video game remastered release date

Here’s When You Can Play a Decent Ghostbusters Game on PS4

Sure, there are already multiple ways to experience the turbulently-enduring Ghostbusters property on your PlayStation 4. There’s that VR thing, which is more of a “experience” than a game, and then there’s also that game, which is more of a “drink coaster” than a game. But hey, at one point there was a totally serviceable Ghostbusters video game, and now that game is coming to modern hardware. If you missed Ghostbusters: The Video Game the first time around and don’t feel like sifting through bargain bins to find a cheap copy for your old consoles, we now know when you’ll be able to drop a few extra convenience bucks for Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered.

Previously announced without a date, developer Saber Interactive (the house of NBA 2K Playgrounds and uh, Shaq Fu) has revealed that Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered will be released for the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch, and the PC (via the Epic Games Store) on October 4, 2019. No pricing or release information has been revealed yet. We also don’t know if there is a particular feature set for this release, or if there have been any changes beyond the usual resolution bump.

Originally released in 2009, Ghostbusters: The Video Game is notable for a few reasons beyond being a pretty alright game. It is an ostensibly canonical sequel to the films, and includes the entire original voice cast. It was also written by Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis, and is one of Ramis’ final works before his death in 2014. This game ended up providing a sort of catharsis for many Ghostbusters fans and the aforementioned talent, as a third Ghostbusters movie had long been in various stages of development hell. Bill Murray’s involvement was also seen as a shock, as much of that development hell has been attributed to his turning down treatments for various reasons.
