Pulse 3D Wireless Headset Midnight Black

Pulse 3D Wireless Headset Will be Available in Midnight Black Next Month, Made to Match DualSense Midnight Black Controller

The Pulse 3D Wireless Headset will be getting a new color variant next month. Sony has revealed the headset will be available in Midnight Black, which will be made up of two slightly different shades of black to match the similarly colored galaxy-inspired DualSense controller that was released in June.

No changes will be made between the new headset and the existing PS5 launch white and black dual-colored Pulse 3D headset. The newest Pulse 3D Wireless headset will still use the PlayStation 5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech to give a more precise sound with locations that match perfectly to the gameplay. The Midnight Black variant will be available at some point in October, although Sony didn’t give an exact release date.

Today’s PS5 system update also had some significant changes for those using 3D audio. The Pulse 3D Wireless headset now has equalizer settings that can be found within Sound Controls. There are three presets that have been inspired by the most popular selections from those who used the PlayStation 4 headset companion app: Standard, Bass Boost, and Shooter. The latter enhances footsteps and fired shots when used. All three of these presets have been enhanced to go with the PS5 Tempest 3D AudioTech. Of course, players can create their own settings and presets with three save slots available.

The update also added 3D audio support through built-in TV speakers. This converts two-channel TV speaker audio into three-dimensional sound, with the option to also use the DualSense speaker to output audio, and can be triggered through the Sound menu. Different settings will optimize the 3D audio for rooms of different shapes and sizes with players able to measure this through the microphone on the DualSense controller.

Other changes made in this update include the option to expand the console’s storage capacity with an M.2 SSD. UX enhancements added the option to customize the Control Center, improved Game Base and Screen Reader, and added a platform indicator to installed games that are available on multiple platforms. There’s also the ability to choose streaming resolution for PlayStation Now, a new accolade type, a new trophy tracker, and the automatic capture of “personal best” videos. All of these changes are available now.

There’s no word on if the Midnight Black Pulse 3D Wireless Headset also means a similar one will be made in Cosmic Red. At this time, Sony also hasn’t released any official alternate PS5 faceplates or special edition consoles apart from the standard white console. The Midnight Black Pulse 3D Wireless Headset is coming in October.
