Life is Strange: Remastered Collection will be released on February 1, Square Enix confirmed today. The game was originally due to release this month but was delayed for five months so the team could focus son the individual releases of the Remastered Collection and Life is Strange: True Colors.
The Remastered Collection was first scheduled for release on September 30, just three weeks after the release of True Colors. The collection was delayed to early 2022 as developer Deck Nine Games felt they needed more time between the release of the two games. The delay reduced the pressure on the team that was building because of the “ongoing challenges of the worldwide pandemic.”
Both Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm are included in the collection. Originally released in 2015, Life is Strange tells the story of photography student Max Caulfield who has the ability to rewind time. She teams up with her childhood friend Chloe Price to investigate the disappearance of Chloe’s friend Rachel Amber. Released two years later, Before the Storm is a prequel tale that explores Chloe’s friendship with Rachel as they both come to terms with the difficulties life throws at them.
The two games have been remastered on a new engine. This means there are upgrades to the lighting, environments, and character models. The Life is Strange facial animations have also been motion captured in their entirety. Finally, the Before the Storm Deluxe content, including outfits and the Farewell DLC episode, will be included in the Collection package too.
Life is Strange: Remastered Collection will now release on February 1. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and preorders are already open. Alternatively, those who purchased Life is Strange: True Colors Ultimate Edition will automatically receive the Remastered Collection, as well as the upcoming Wavelengths DLC due to be released on September 30.
