Ash Titanfall 2 Apex Legends

Titanfall 2’s Ash is the Next Playable Character in Apex Legends

Still mad about some of the things Ash did in Titanfall 2? Don’t worry. Respawn Entertainment revealed that the evil-doctor-turned-simulacrum is joining Apex Legends as a playable character. Along with the return of the C.A.R. SMG and a new jungle map, the new season—titled “Escape”—is set to launch on November 2, 2021. Respawn will reveal the official launch trailer for the upcoming season on October 21, 2021.

As a quick recap, before her upcoming appearance in Apex Legends, Ash was one of the mercenary pilots and primary antagonists of Titanfall 2. Working under the mercenary and leader of the Apex Predators, Kuben Blisk, Ash was one of the few synthetic beings, or “Simulacrum,” known to pilot Titans. During the events of Titanfall 2, the protagonist defeats Ash and seemingly kills her. Up until the events of Apex Legends, her whereabouts and status were unknown.

While Ash is finally joining the Apex games as an official contestant, the character has actually been in the battle royale for some time. Back in Season 5, a story mission tasked players with recovering pieces of her head to put her back together in order to gather the access codes to a floating city known as Olympus. Later, Kuben Blisk reunited with Ash and recruited her into his Apex games, setting her up as the organizer of the Arenas game mode.

Here’s where things get a little complicated. Before she became a simulacrum, Ash was actually the scientist Ashleigh Reid. Almost a century before the events of Apex Legends and Titanfall 2, human Ash betrayed another legend, Horizon (aka Mary Somers) and sent her into a black hole. It seems at this point that Ash was already working for the mercenary syndicate, and later led a raid on a research lab in order to steal the lion’s share of Baranthium; a valuable energy-producing material. However, human Ash was killed by a fellow scientist and turned into a simulacrum at her behest.

Due to the side effects of turning into a psychopathic robot, Ash is unable to recall her past. However, as the new trailer shows, Horizon uses a special code to unlock her “ego retention system” and access her human side. The upcoming season will likely see the character’s backstory developed even further, possibly including details about how she came to become a Titan pilot.
