Splitgate Update Spookygate Halloween

Splitgate Update Adds ‘Spookygate’ Halloween-Themed Skins and Stadium Map

Splitgate is getting spookier for the Halloween season, with the new Spookygate update adding new Halloween-themed skins and a jack-o-lantern stadium map. Players can earn three new fan-created weapons skins by completing Halloween challenges until November 1, 2021. In addition to the cosmetic content, the game also features new quality of life improvements such as the ability to place new portals on existing ones and various bug fixes.

The stadium map features a major overhaul, adding a massive holographic jack-o-lantern in the center of the map. Other areas also received Halloween-themed facelifts, from cobwebbed windows to blood-splattered hallways, and much more. While there was a bit of an issue with PlayStation users reporting crashes while playing the map, 1047 Games has since fixed the issue and added the Stadium map back into rotation.

1047 Games also announced the three winners for the Spookygate weapon skin design contest. These designs are now included in the game, featuring wacky Halloween-themed looks for weapons, like a rare Candy Corn skin for the Assault Rifle and an eerie eyeball-covered Foresight skin for the Carbine. There’s even a retro-style Pixelspook skin for the Pistol, which adds pixelated ghosts and a cute “Boo!” to the gun’s frame.

For improvements to Splitgate‘s quality of life, players can now re-shoot portals on a wall that already has the same portal on it in order to adjust the portal’s position. Kill cams will now show the killer’s banner at the top of the screen. And to top it off, 1047 also updated the art for game modes and loading screens to fit the Halloween mood. Finally, 1047 Games added a new button to the main lobby that allows players to watch Splitgate esports events via Twitch.

Previously, the studio revealed that a single-player mode for Splitgate is currently being considered. While we haven’t heard much else in terms of a possible Halo-style story mode, the game’s massive popularity could see Splitgate grow into more than just a multiplayer shooter.
