Amy Hennig’s Skydance New Media Studio Signs Agreement with Marvel for New Blockbuster AAA Action-Adventure Game

Skydance New Media, the division of Skydance Media led by Amy Hennig, has announced a partnership with Marvel Entertainment to create a new AAA title. Details about the game were thin on the ground, but we do know it will be a “narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game” set in the Marvel Universe.

This upcoming game will feature “a completely original story and take on the Marvel Universe,” but this is all Skydance was prepared to reveal in its statement today. Amy Hennig said about the partnership:

I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game. The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.

We’ve previously heard the title is a single-player game built on Unreal Engine 4 and will “tap into the traditions of adventure cinema to create an engaging, energetic experience that captures the spirit of TV and film to excite both gamers and non-gamers alike.” They also aim to use “state-of-the-art computer graphics to provide the visual fidelity of television and film.” Skydance New Media was formed by Uncharted creator Hennig and EA veteran Julian Beak to create “story-focused interactive entertainment” that merges television, movies and games.

The studio is assembling its own set of Avengers in the form of “developers with decades of AAA experience in action and adventure gaming, as well as a diverse team of creative consultants from the worlds of film, television, and comics.” As well as this project, the team also aims to create experiences on emerging streaming services.
