Modern Warfare 2 Morality System

Rumor: Modern Warfare 2 Will Include Morality System, Realistic Gore, and Weapon Jamming

A new leak corroborated by reliable industry insiders indicates that Infinity Ward’s rumored 2022 Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare 2, will feature a morality system, as well as highly realistic gore physics and weapon jamming. Described as “gritty and unrelenting,” the game’s campaign mode is said to focus on the War on Drugs. Specifically, Modern Warfare 2‘s main antagonists will be the Colombian drug cartel.

The leak comes from Twitter user @RalphsValve. The user listed some important details concerning the rumored game’s animations, campaign, and other game modes. Most notably, wounded combatants will not die immediately depending on the type of injury sustained. Instead, some may remain conscious and scream, attempt to apply pressure to their wounds, and otherwise interact with the character in brutally realistic ways.

Below are some key takeaways from the leak:

  • Campaign mode is “gritty and unrelenting”, and there are “no winners in this story” surrounding the War on Drugs.
  • Moral Compass system is described as similar to Red Dead Redemption 2‘s honor system.
    • Certain decisions will affect key moments within the campaign
  • High levels of realism specific to the Campaign mode, including:
    • Realistic gore. Depending on the caliber of the bullet, combatants may lose limbs but stay conscious, squirm and scream.
    • Death animations. Combatants may beg for mercy, insult the player, call out for their mother, and experience convulsions or hallucinate.
    • Visible reactions to high-intensity moments. The player character will struggle to insert magazines, voice will quiver during call-outs during ambush sequences.
    • Weapon jamming animations. The player’s weapons may jam, forcing them to expend a wasted bullet that can be retrieved later.

The leaker also revealed that the popular Spec Ops game mode will be replaced with something similar to Kojima’s canceled horror demo P.T. However, prominent industry insider Tom Henderson believes that the rumored new game mode may simply be a specific mission or mechanic within the game’s campaign. Both Henderson and gaming news outlet Okami Games have verified that the leaker’s sources are legitimate.

Activision and Infinity Ward have not yet commented on the leaks and rumors on Call of Duty 2022.
