Following a GameStop “leak” over the weekend, Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware have officially confirmed that Elden Ring will support 4K and 60 frames-per-second alongside ray tracing on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. A breakdown is as follows:
PS4
- Maximum resolution: Up to 1920x1080P
- Frame rate: Up to 30 FPS
- HDR: Supported
PS4 Pro
- Maximum resolution: Up to 3200x1800P
- Frame rate: Up to 30 FPS
- HDR: Supported
PS5
- Maximum resolution: Up to 3840x2160P
- Frame rate: Up to 60 FPS
- HDR: Supported
- Ray tracing (via patch): Supported
While PS5 and Xbox Series X specs are identical, only Xbox consoles will get full cross-generation compatibility in that Elden Ring‘s save data can be ported between both generations. On PlayStation platforms, you can transfer your data from the PS4 to PS5 should you start Elden Ring on last gen, but it won’t work the other way round. In simple words, once you start the game on the PS5 and decide to play it on the PS4, your saves won’t transfer. Additionally, once you port your PS4 save over to the PS5 and continue playing, you can’t take your progress back to the PS4. It’s all a one-way street.
Over on Twitter, the official Elden Ring account also revealed five playable classes ahead of the closed network test: Warrior, Enchanted Knight, Prophet, Champion, and Bloody Wolf.
