Renowned PlayStation Plus leaker Dealabs user billbil-kun is up to his tricks again. Perhaps because of the holiday weekend, the upcoming PS Plus games have leaked a couple of days earlier than usual. According to the latest rumor, the three PlayStation Plus titles for December 2021 are Godfall Challenger Edition for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as well as Mortal Shell and LEGO DC Super-Villains for PlayStation 4.
billbil-kun has been spot on with his PlayStation Plus leaks over the last few months, and the specifics of the mysterious “Godfall Challenger Edition” which hasn’t otherwise been revealed is an interesting addition, perhaps a new version of the game. It could mean that Sony would be using a bit of a loophole to get a day-one release in this month’s lineup and thus would be keeping with their promise to keep adding these new titles to the list. (Though to be fair, Sony didn’t necessarily specify that it would have new day one releases on Plus every single month, just that it would broadly continue the trend of bringing new games to the service.)
Godfall was a launch title for the PS5 console, and later arrived on PS4 in August 2021. However, the Challenger Edition would be a completely new version of the game and we’re not entirely sure what content this version will include if the leak is indeed correct. It could also just be the Ascended Edition misnamed. Meanwhile, Mortal Shell hit PlayStation 4 in August 2020, and LEGO DC Super-Villains back in 2018. Admittedly there wouldn’t be many other choices for Sony to get a day one release into the list, namely physics-based space simulation game Heavenly Bodies and farming and adventuring RPG Rune Factory 4 Special (or an unannounced surprise release). Though billbil-kun’s track record precedes him, so we’re banking on this leak most likely being correct.
As with all rumors, this one is to be taken with a pinch of salt until Sony confirms the official lineup on December 1. For now, Knockout City, First Class Trouble, and Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning are the current PlayStation Plus titles available to download until December 6. There are also three PSVR titles in the list—The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, The Persistence and Until You Fall—that will be available for another month until January 3, 2022. Once claimed, all of the games will remain in your library as long as you remain a PlayStation Plus subscriber.
