Interactive Thriller Twelve Minutes is Coming to PS4 and PS5 in December

The interactive thriller Twelve Minutes is finally coming to the PS4 and PS5 this year, on December 7, 2021. Annapurna Interactive announced that it will launch for PlayStation consoles at the end of the year, as well as Nintendo Switch later on December 21, 2021. Twelve Minutes has been nominated for Best Indie Game for this year’s The Game Awards 2021 and features a star-studded voice cast of veteran actors.

The announcement also comes with a new accolades trailer and several new cinematic posters. In Twelve Minutes, players are put into the shoes of a man enjoying a romantic evening with his wife before an unknown man invades their home. After the intruder knocks him out, the main character is brought to the beginning of the night and realizes that he is stuck in a twelve-minute time loop. He must then find out a way to break the cycle and change the outcome of the night.

Though billed as an indie title, Twelve Minutes features prominent on-screen actors such as James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe. James McAvoy voices the main character, Ridley is the player character’s wife, and Dafoe plays the home intruder. The new cinematic images each shine a spotlight on these three main characters.

Twelve Minutes released on the PC and Xbox consoles earlier this year to some very positive reception. It originally appeared during the Tribeca Film Festival’s game spotlight back in July 2021. Twelve Minutes takes heavy inspiration from films and directors famous in the thriller genre, including Stanley Kubrik, Alfred Hitchcock, and David Fincher. Former Rockstar Games and Ubisoft artist Luís António developed Twelve Minutes after working on The Witness.

Twelve Minutes releases for the PS4 and PS5 on December 7, 2021, and Nintendo Switch on December 21, 2021.
