Dying Light 2: Stay Human has officially gone gold. This means that the studio has completed development on Dying Light 2 and is ready to manufacture the final discs. It has gone gold well ahead of its release on February 4, 2021, for the PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch. Additionally, the developer plans to unveil 15 minutes of new gameplay footage at tomorrow’s Dying 2 Know broadcast, starting at 12 PM PT / 9 PM CET.

While the base game is finished and ready for publishing, developers at Techland are still keen on continuing their work. Lead Game Designer Tymon Smektała states that the team is looking forward to Dying Light 2’s initial release but is still looking to improve things post-launch as well. Specifically, Techland plans to use the next two months leading up to Dying Light 2‘s launch on implementing additional player feedback and optimization.
This is it. The final and crucial moment for us. The game is ready to be manufactured, but we will not slow down. The fact that the game is done and we hit the gold status two months before the release is a great sign but it doesn’t mean that our work ends here. There are still some upgrades and tweaks to add, and community feedback to implement, but the base is solid and ready to play. I’m extremely proud of the whole team!
Dying Light 2 was initially slated for a December 2021 release, but Techland delayed it earlier this year in order to continue polishing. Smektała later clarified that these delays were mainly due to the complex and intersecting systems. Smektała also cited the pandemic as one of the main causes and stated definitively that it would not be delayed again. Fortunately for Techland, it looks like they were able to keep their promise.
