Forspoken Will Come With Performance, Graphics, and Ray Tracing Modes on the PS5

Forspoken Creative Producer Raio Mitsuno has confirmed that the game will come with Performance, Graphics, and Ray Tracing modes on the PlayStation 5.

Speaking at a media event attended by Ungeek, Mitsuno said that the Performance mode will offer 1440p resolution at 60 frames-per-second and the Graphics mode will offer 4K resolution at 30 fps. He stopped short of confirming frame rate and resolution for the Ray Tracing mode.

Game Director Takeshi Aramaki separately added that Forspoken will take advantage of the PlayStation 5’s unique hardware features.

We really have included a lot of unique PlayStation 5 hardware features when we were developing this game,” said Aramaki. “For example, using the adaptive triggers, we added tactile feedback when you’re using the different types of magic. We’ve got lots of different magic spells you can use in the game, and the planners and designers sat down and worked out how to differentiate the feedback you get from controller for each of the magic spells.”

Forspoken is currently in development for the PS5 and the PC, and is scheduled for release on May 24, 2022. Following The Game Awards 2021, Square Enix detailed the game’s villains and announced that they will be featured in downloadable content set for release in Winter 2022.
