Blizzard Entertainment has announced a new survival adventure game for consoles and PC. The announcement came out of the blue in form of job advertisements but we got concept art and an allusive overview out of it. The unnamed adventure is set in a brand-new universe, and Blizzard is keen to hire a diverse team of experienced developers in a variety of roles ranging from art and design to engineering.
What’s Blizzard’s new game all about?
Blizzard’s new game is set in “a place full of heroes we have yet to meet, stories yet to be told, and adventures yet to be lived. A vast realm of possibility, waiting to be explored,” according to the official announcement. Apparently, “every story needs a teller. And every world needs builders. What if that could be you?”
One piece of concept art shows an axe-wielding female warrior wearing a helmet and armor in what appears to be a forest. She seems battle-ready, and curiously, there’s a mirror in front of her. The second concept art shows two young boys in a modern city staring into a fantasy land in the distance. If these two images are anything to go by, it looks like the game will feature two parallel worlds.
Opinion: Now we speculate if new Blizzard games will land on the PS5 or not
Zarmena writes… Like Bethesda’s Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI, I suspect Blizzard’s new game will be exclusive to the Microsoft ecosystem. It certainly isn’t going to release anytime soon and by the time it does, Blizzard will be well into Microsoft’s crutches. Nevertheless, I look forward to seeing what Blizzard is working on, and equally curious about the state of Overwatch 2.
In other news, PS5 game captures can now be shared using the PS app, and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is getting a sequel.
