Last Monday, reports of a potential Gran Turismo 7 delay emerged after Polyphony Digital cancelled a closed media event at the last minute. Word got out via known insider Tom Henderson, who expressed concerns about the unforeseen cancellation considering the game’s out early March, leading to speculations that Gran Turismo 7 might suffer from yet another delay. However, those speculations have now been quashed as the media event has been rescheduled for next Thursday, February 3rd.
When will Gran Turismo 7 release?
Gran Turismo 7 is on track to release on March 4th. One of Henderson’s original tweet was a little too speculative by his own admission, and he ended up deleting it. All that changed was the date of the media event and that’s about it. And the reason given for the rescheduling is director Kazunori Yamauchi’s desire to be present to answer questions. He apparently couldn’t make it on the previous date.
This event is now taking place on February 3rd.
Apparently, the reason for the short-notice delay was that Yamauchi wanted to be at the event to answer questions, but couldn’t be there for whatever reason.
March 4th release seems to be happening! 🙂 https://t.co/To40aFLrd8

Deleted the “delay” tweet because it was a bit confusing. I was referring to a TLOU2 event that got pushed and subsequently, the game got delayed. They are not connected in any way apart from that. If the media delay was bc of COVID, I do think that would have been said though.

Opinion: Covid’s got everyone anticipating delays
Zarmena writes… Henderson has an excellent track record as an insider but his tweet was a bit premature. Can’t blame him, though. Covid has pushed numerous games over the last two years and continues to batter release schedules. But rest assured, Gran Turismo 7 is coming March 4th.
In other news, Horizon Forbidden West is reportedly as long as its predecessor, and Nintendo Switch may have outsold the original PlayStation.
