Assassin’s Creed Valhalla continues to be a strong performer for Ubisoft according to their latest financial results. On March 10, the game will soon be getting the Dawn of Ragnarok expansion, where players help Odin battle a new threat to Asgard. According to the publisher, Dawn of Ragnarok will be “Ubisoft’s biggest ever expansion”.
How big is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Dawn of Ragnarok?
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Dawn of Ragnarok will add around 35 hours of gameplay. The new storyline will feature Odin as he rescues his son Baldr from the Jotunheim frost giants and saves his kingdom from the Muspelheim demons controlled by Odin’s greatest nemesis Surtr. To do this he’ll need to make allies in the Dwarves from Svartleheim, find the Hugr-Rip bracer to learn new combat moves, and acquire new godly powers. There will also be a new weapon class and the Trials of the Valkyrie where players can win new loot. According to PlayStation Game Size, the DLC’s download size will be 15.003 GB on PS5. A PS4 size has not yet been revealed.
Dawn of Ragnarok is part of a “stronger post-launch program” that has seen the game become more successful than its predecessor Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Overall engagement is 30% higher than Odyssey at the same stage in its life cycle. The game’s life-to-date net bookings increased by 70% through the last quarter of the year, while the amount of money players were spending in the game increased by more than 80%. However, Odyssey wasn’t left completely behind. The release of the free Crossover stories in December saw Odyssey have its best month ever in terms of player engagement. Needless to say, Ubisoft is pleased with the franchise’s continued performance.
In other news, Sony has decided to celebrate the release of Horizon Forbidden West by placing a 10ft tall Clawstrider statue in the middle of Sydney’s Botanical Gardens. It also has one of the Treat Codes players need to enter if they want to win a PS5 console. Elsewhere, Atlus has started a countdown that seems to be teasing a Soul Hackers revival.
