After some fairly obvious countdowns and teasers, Capcom has officially announced Street Fighter 6. For now, you can enjoy a brief teaser, which shows some pretty impressive graphics and a catchy tune. While a teaser isn’t indicative of the final product, a graphical overhaul is to be expected especially since this will be the first Street Fighter title on next-gen platforms.

Yusuke Hashimoto, who produced Bayonetta and directed Bayonetta 2, is working on Street Fighter 6 as a designer. Additionally, Capcom producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya has confirmed that he’s now working on the Street Fighter series. No release window or platforms were announced but we’ve been told to expect more information this summer. It remains to be seen if Street Fighter 6 will be PlayStation exclusive like its predecessor or not.
In August 2020, long-time Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono announced that he was leaving Capcom. Ono, a fighting genre veteran, had a complicated history with Street Fighter and his final work on the franchise wasn’t well-received. Street Fighter V, a PlayStation-exclusive, was panned for its lackluster launch and barebones content. Meanwhile, Tekken and Mortal Kombat continued to impress and rack up sales.
We’ll update our readers when we have more information.
In other news, Horizon Forbidden West has had the second biggest PS5 launch in the UK, and it has been revealed that Microsoft approached Activision Blizzard for a deal merely days after Bobby Kotick was accused of misconduct.
