If there’s ever an Elden Ring 2, it may involve a collaboration with fantasy and science fiction author Brandon Sanderson. Bandai Namco Entertainment, who’s been teasing the IP’s future, apparently sent Sanderson an Elden Ring package containing a note that expressed its desire to work together. This was revealed by the author, best known for Mistborn and Stormlight Archive, during a livestream picked up by folks over at Video Games Chronicle.
Does Bandai Namco have plans for Elden Ring 2?
Bandai Namco has a history of working with FromSoftware, which spawned several Dark Souls games, but the publisher hasn’t explicitly said if it wants to make an Elden Ring sequel or not. However, the company has confirmed that it will expand the IP beyond video games. Interestingly, Sanderson revealed that he already has a pitch for a Soulsborne game.
“They are interested in perhaps doing something together, is what that says,” Sanderson said. “I am as well, actually. This is how I roll: I actually have a pitch for them in the back of my head… so I may have to send them my pitch and see what they think.” He then added that he “always has a pitch for everything” and specifically mentioned Soulsborne. “’I’ve been thinking, ‘what would I do if I did a Soulsborne sort of game?’” Sanderson continued. “Obviously, I don’t get to decide that, right? But I have it in the back of my head, so maybe you guys will hear something from me.”
Sounds like both parties are pretty keen to work with each other! We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled and our readers posted when we hear more.
In other news, Horizon Forbidden West’s latest patch stealthily added a nifty little feature worth checking out, and Sony has reiterated yet again that it’s not done acquiring studios yet.
