Resident Evil 4 Remake Release Date

Resident Evil 4 Remake Release Date and Trailer Drops at State of Play

We finally got confirmation that a Resident Evil 4 remake is on the way. Speculation and rumors about an RE4 remake have circulated for the past few years, but today’s State of Play is the first time we’ve gotten anything official about it. Amazingly, we don’t have to wait long for it since it’s coming out early next year.

Resident Evil 4 remake release date set for early 2023

Capcom started the State of Play off well with a surprise reveal of the Resident Evil 4 remake release date, which is March 24, 2023. It’s also been confirmed that it’s a current-get exclusive.

Unfortunately, the teaser was fairly brief, but we got to see a few iconic locations that have been recreated. The Spanish village near the start of the game seems to be pretty faithful to the original. We also saw a boat in a lake that was immediately reminiscent of where we fought Del Lago.

The biggest question we have is how far will the RE4 remake deviate from the original? RE2 remake kept the majority of the locations and content from the PS1 classic and added to it, and fans loved it. It really only misfired by having lackluster B scenarios. On the other hand, the RE3 remake cut locations, gameplay systems, weapons, and the RNG elements that made the original unique. So, which way will Capcom go here?

We can already see that Leon seems a bit more dour. Also, given that Ada was highlighted, I wouldn’t be surprised if the devs integrated separate Ways into the main story. The PlayStation Blog post that came with the trailer says:

We aim to make the game feel familiar to fans of the series, while also providing a fresh feeling to it. This is being done by reimagining the storyline of the game while keeping the essence of its direction, modernizing the graphics, and updating the controls to a modern standard.

Hopefully, Capcom doesn’t let its “reimagining” run too wild, considering the original is one of the best-rated games of all time.

In other news, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was revealed by BioWare, and there’s an unannounced Destiny project in development.
