How To Connect PS5 to AirPods and Bluetooth Earphones

Connecting Apple AirPods and other Bluetooth earphones to the PS5 should be a great way of getting good-sounding audio quality without the need for cables or additional dongles. Unfortunately, it’s a trickier process than you might expect. While it is certainly possible, you will need an additional piece of hardware. Here’s how to connect AirPods to PS5, as well as other Bluetooth earphones.

How to connect AirPods to PS5

  1. First, plug a Bluetooth adapter into the PS5.
  2. Set the Bluetooth adapter into pairing mode.
    • This is usually achieved by pushing and holding a button, though checking the manual for the exact process would be wise.
  3. Next, put the AirPods into pairing mode.
    • Ensure they are back in their case and then press and hold the case button until the light begins to blink.
  4. The Bluetooth adapter should pick up the AirPods automatically.
    • You shouldn’t need to select anything on the PS5. If it doesn’t work, try the pairing process again.

How to connect Bluetooth earphones and headphones to PS5

To connect other Bluetooth earphones and headphones to the PS5, users must plug a Bluetooth adapter into the PS5 or DualSense controller and pair it to that.

Unfortunately, the PS5 itself doesn’t have any Bluetooth receiver built-in for pairing with audio devices. Users must therefore invest extra money into an adapter.

While there may be a touch of added latency which can make fast-paced games or movie-watching a little tougher to digest, the convenience factor shouldn’t be ignored. However, users may struggle to get any Bluetooth microphone audio working with the PS5, even with an adapter.
