Persona TV Series Movie SEGA Atlus

Persona is Just One of Atlus’ Games Possibly Getting a Movie or TV Series

Not only does SEGA have a five-year “Super Game” plan, but they’re also planning to create a movie or TV series out of more of their franchises, starting with Atlus games like Persona. The idea behind this is to expand upon the number of storytelling forms, something that is now an important part of SEGA’s business strategy.

Part of SEGA’s new business strategy is to expand upon the forms it currently has for storytelling. As such, SEGA told IGN that this means they’re looking at creating live-action movie or TV series adaptations of some of their gaming franchises and some of the first games that will receive that treatment are titles from Atlus’ library, such as Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, and Catherine. Toru Nakahara, SEGA’s Lead Producer on the Sonic The Hedgehog movies and Sonic Prime TV series, explained why Atlus’ franchises were the first to get the opportunity:

Atlus’ worlds are filled with high drama, cutting-edge style, and compelling characters. Stories like those from the Persona franchise really resonate with our fans and we see an opportunity to expand the lore like no one has seen — or played — before. Together, SEGA and Atlus, are working to bring these stories and worlds to life through new mediums and for new audiences.

There is no indication which companies SEGA plans to work with to create their live-action adaptations, and the publisher has only said they’re currently exploring various studios and producers. Now that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has grossed more than $400 million at the box office, it’s no wonder SEGA is looking to reproduce that success with some of its other titles.

In other news, those wanting to sign up to the Skate 4 Playtest can do so now, as well as watch the first game video for months. Elsewhere, the postponed God Of War Ragnarok announcement was due to include details on the release date and collector’s editions.
